Transforming how and where we live

Shaping Footprints brings to communities its international experience in designing and operating a wide variety of discovery environments that engender life-long learning, trans-disciplinary perspectives on complex problems and places that connect with the world and the communities of which they are a part.

Learning environments encompass a wide variety of natural and man-made places and facilities ranging from schools (K-12), community colleges, business incubators and innovation centers.  Too often schools and colleges are segregated from the communities and landscapes of which they are a part and that can enhance the impact of life-long learning.

Schools (K-12), for example, are not meant to be holding tanks for small children and juveniles, yet sadly too many end up being that way.  They should be exciting, open places that celebrate and encourage the act of learning as well as provide surrounding communities with facilities for use in non-school hours. Additionally, school facilities themselves should be capable of being used teaching tools which explore technology, the science of living and building with climate, and how human habitats can coexist with the natural world while taking advantage of what nature has to offer.
